This #FilmFriday sees a Film With Pride digital double bill of two beautiful films exploring cultural identity. From Malaysia we have Left Unsaid directed by character animator and freelance comic creator Mei Lian Hoe. This will be followed by Dear Dominicana, a short film shot in the UK and Dominican Republic.
The films will be streamed from the Film with Pride Facebook Page from 5pm on Friday 2nd October and will be available until midnight on the same day.
Left Unsaid
Running time: 3 minutes approx
Left Unsaid is an experimental animated film about cultural dysphoria and the disconnect between grandfather and grandchild caused by an ever-growing language barrier.
Based on the director’s own experiences growing up in Malaysia and being unable to speak Chinese to their family. The film is a poignant depiction of the emotional turmoil felt by many people in my generation who cannot speak their mother tongue.
