Last month, in response to the challenges being faced in the arts sector as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, Homotopia put out a brand new commission encouraging LGBTQIA artists to celebrate ‘Queer Art Always’, to show the power of art to connect and unite us all.
More than 150 positive and imaginative applications were received, demonstrating ways for audiences to engage via non-traditional platforms, suitable for social distancing.
Just thirteen (lucky!) artists were selected for a share of a £10,000 commission pot and this week Homotopia revealed its selections, which include Scouse drag cabaret performer, Filla Crack, visual artist and activist, Joseph Cotgrave and illustrator, Leyla Reynolds.
You can read about all 13 artists and their projects, which will be released online in May – July, here.
