Online

Building on the success of last year’s events, Liverpool’s Hate Crime Strategy Group partners are giving you an insight into the different strands of Hate Crime, including disability, race, religion, LGBTQ+ and gender identity, misogyny and sex workers.

Liverpool

Wednesday 13th October – Daisy UK – Disability Hate Crime Awareness Workshop
Daisy Nucleus Academy, 11am – 1pm
Workshop will include discussion on disability hate crime incidents, what a disability hate crime is, how to report it and Daisy’s report and support strategy. Throughout the week there will also be a drop-in centre for further education and support with disability hate crime and information shared on social media to educate on disability hate crime, promote how to report incidents and highlight the support offered by Daisy UK.

There will also be a joint leaflet drop in key hotspot areas to help raise awareness of hate crime organised by Merseyside Police and local housing providers

Numerous educational hate crime awareness sessions will take place in various locations such as Tuebrook primary schools and Walton Youth Project

There will be a tea and coffee drop in afternoon at the Walton Road Community Café and a drop in session with Afghan refugees to build positive relationships and encourage reporting

Wirral

There will be a public-facing hate crime awareness event known as #MeetUsMonday will take place on Monday 11th October on Borough Road, Seacombe.

Merseyside Police Safer Schools Officers will be showing Hate Crime Awareness videos in schools across Wirral, including the Daisy UK video launched by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Merseyside Police will be running internal training sessions to increase knowledge of all internal and external hate crime support networks.

Awareness training session with the Gypsy Roma Traveller Police Association to improve officer’s with cultural education and awareness.

St Helens & Knowsley

Promotion within Whiston and St Helens Hospital to highlight reporting methods

Relaunch of the disability hate crime ambassadors which involves recruiting local councillors from both St Helens and Knowsley councils as ‘hate crime ambassadors’ who will be able to offer support and guidance around hate crime.

Various hate crime awareness training with various community groups such as members of BIG (Being Involved Group), local asylum seekers and refugees and local care homes

Community outreach events from the Police, Safer Communities Team and Police and Crime Commissioner who will be available to address community concerns around hate crime in areas such as Huyton and Earlestown Market Day

Sefton

Community partnership event with the Police and Crime Commissioner Office and Sefton Hate Crime agency partners to do a targeted leaflet drop in key hot spot areas to encourage people to report hate crimes

Hate Crime Awareness training will be delivered to students at Hugh Baird College, St Bedford Road Primary, Sacred Heart School Crosby and Sefton Youth Detachment Workers

Sefton’s regional Hate Crime Coordinators will attend ‘People’s First’ in Sefton to discuss Hate Crime with group members

There will be a Disability Hate Crime Steering Group hosted by Dr Leah Burch from Liverpool Hope University and a visit to Venus Women’s Centre coffee morning to discuss any hate related issues
