LCR Pride Foundation Co-founder and CEO, Andi Herring, has been appointed the new chair of the Navajo Chartermark & Partnership, following the retirement of activist Tony Griffin.
The 2021 Navajo Merseyside & Cheshire LGBTIQA Chartermark Awards on Friday 1st October celebrated its biggest list of organisations achieving, or maintaining the chartermark to date in a ceremony at the City of Liverpool College.
Sixteen organisations across Merseyside and Cheshire received the prestigious Chartermark, which recognises good practice and commitment to tackling LGBT+ inequality.
Going forward,, Andi – who as one of the co-founders of the LCR Pride Foundation was the awards’ first ever ‘Next Generation’ accolade in 2019 – will steward the partnership and continue the legacy left by Tony after more than 10 years at the helm.
Speaking of his appointment, Andi said: “What Tony has achieved with Navajo is exceptional and has done so much to support and champion the LGBT+ community in Merseyside and Cheshire, as well as allies who have committed to Navajo Chartermark’s standards and practices.
“We are honoured to be able to grow the Chartermark and its impact in the region. Myself and the rest of the LCR Pride Foundation team look forward to working with Chartermark holders, assessors and volunteers to develop the partnership moving forward, to build on Tony’s incredible legacy – while he enjoys a well-deserved retirement!”
