Trans Voices Liverpool Creative Writing Project

We recognise that there is great diversity in our city’s Trans communities and that not everyone has the platform to tell their story or have their voice heard. We want to change that and to do that we need to hear from you, members of Liverpool’s Trans and gender non-conforming communities.

National Museums Liverpool, with help from the Clore-Duffield Foundation is proud to be funding a new project for summer 2021 in partnership with Liverpool Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV), LCR Proud Foundation, and Sahir House called ‘Trans Voices Liverpool’.

Participants in this exciting project will be invited to attend a series of online creative writing workshops, led by award winning writer, director and producer, Marjorie H Morgan. In these workshops participants will explore what it means to be Trans in Liverpool in 2021, and to create written pieces from their own experience.

Selected written pieces created as part of these workshops will then be illustrated by local artist Lo Tierney and turned in to a series of postcards which will be made available to those attending an event to mark International Pronouns Day in the Museum of Liverpool on 23 October 2021. The illustrated written pieces will also be displayed digitally in the museum’s atrium in the week prior to the event.

If you would like to attend the online workshop series, starting on 12 July 2021 please email participation@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk expressing your interest.

Please include ‘Trans Voices Liverpool’ in the subject of your email so it doesn’t get missed. Places are strictly limited and will be allocated to those who express an interest first. If there is not sufficient space on the workshops we are still interested in hearing from you and there may be an opportunity for you to take part in the event on 23 October or at the Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV) celebration in March.
