Film With Pride Opens For Submissions for New Season

Following the success of its online #FilmFriday programme, Film with Pride has opened submissions for a new season of online short film screenings.

Film With Pride works to showcase LGBT+ films from established and new filmmakers from diverse backgrounds. Since the online #FilmFriday programme launched in May, it has addressed topics including life and loss in lockdown, isolation, identity, navigating the challenges of falling in love and the intersection between race and sexuality.

Filmmakers from all backgrounds are now being encouraged to submit new content that speaks to LGBT+ themes.

Film With Pride programmer, Joan Burnett, said: “We have already seen some incredible submissions from new and established filmmakers from diverse backgrounds. We have seen films created in days during lockdown, animations and documentaries and we have been blown away by the standard of submissions.

“Living in such challenging and unprecedented times, we know that creativity is thriving and understand the importance of film as a medium to communicate experience and encourage understanding.  We want to use our platform to amplify as many new voices as we can and encourage submissions from all.”

Films can be up to 45 minutes long and from anywhere in the world, but foreign-language films must be subtitled in English. They must be suitable for young people to view online (equivalent to a 12A rating) and the filmmaker must have the rights to show the film and be happy for it to be streamed via the Film With Pride Facebook page.

Films can be submitted via FilmFreeway here.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 31st August 2020.
