21 Years of Eileen!

Today, Tuesday 14th January 2020 is a very special day for The Lisbon as it marks the 21st year since landlady, Eileen Lea took the helm of the much-loved LGBT+ venue.

Lifelong LGBT+ community ally Eileen has tirelessly supported the community since taking over, actively supporting Pride in Liverpool, the House of Suarez Vogue Ball and sponsoring the Mersey Marauders gay football team, which helped bring the national summer football tournament to Liverpool.
However, this support is just the tip of the iceberg. Eileen was shortlisted in the Ally of the Year category at the inaugural LCR Pride Awards in 2019, for her care and support of individuals in the community and for creating a relaxed, inclusive and welcoming venue for the city’s LGBT+ community and visitors to the city. The venue was also shortlisted in the LGBT+ Friendly Venue category.
Described in her award nomination as the “embodiment of a fabulous person” over the past 21 years, she has created an establishment that brings our community together and provides a safe space for all, where people are greeted with a smile and leave with the best memories.
Andi Herring, co-founder of the LCR Pride Foundation, said: “Congratulations to Eileen  on this fantastic milestone. She is a true ally to the LGBT+ community in the Liverpool City Region and we want to thank her for her tireless support over the last two decades.”
