Foundation co-founders Andi Herring and John Bird were honoured to be invited to attend the annual Proud Trust #ArtActivist day held at LJMU IM Marsh Campus.
Each year the event is hosted by the previous art competition winner, so 2019 was the turn of GYRO!
At the event the foundation was pleased to award two ‘Being Proud’ awards recognising the contribution of groups and individuals across the North West. Over 120 young people attended to celebrate the awards.
LCR Pride Foundation Co-founder Andi Herring said –
“It was truly amazing to see how creative the youth groups from around the North West had been. Creating pieces of art and performance that responded to their experiences and the current climate for LGBT+ people was inspiring to see.”
John Bird added –
“We’re really excited to be working closely with some of the youth groups there today as we head into our Pride In Liverpool preparation and to see what unique ideas and elements the young people will bring to the event. If it is anything like today it will be amazing!”
The winner of the 2019 #ArtActivist was GLOW Halton, which means next year’s event will be hosted once again in the Liverpool City Region!
