Tmesis Theatre, the recipient of one of LCR Pride Foundation’s grants from its Film Fund is seeking gay women born in the 1940s and 1950s, to take part in research for its film, Betty & Jean.
The Community Fund-supported film is a love story that never was, between two women now in their 70s and 80s. Betty and Jean fell in love, but never made a life together because being lesbian wasn’t an accepted or known way to live. After years of not being in contact, they meet again in Liverpool, on a bench by the Mersey, where they said goodbye to one another 50 years earlier.
The concept will be brought to life by local filmmaker, Jane Farley, and will feature local actors/physical performers. Its focus is the often-underrepresented stories of older gay women.
