Short Film Commissions

For LGBT+ Film Makers and films about the LGBT+ Community.

Grants available up to £1000 from a total pot of £3000.

Following our successful launch of our Film With Pride Digital Programme this fund aims to support LGBT+ filmmakers or those producing films that focus on all parts of LGBT+ life.

Applications are welcomed from film makers at all stages of their career. Proposed films should be suitable for all audiences (no higher than the equivalent of a 12A rating) and be able to be broadcast online. At least one of the project’s film makers should be based within the Liverpool City Region.

Please ensure you have carefully read the criteria below before applying – particularly the film specific ones.

All Community Funds close to applications at Midnight on Monday 3rd August 2020. We anticipate successful awards will be made the following week. All projects must be completed, or be mostly committed by the 1st April 2021.

FILM FUND SPECIFICS

These points apply to the Short Film Fund in addition to the below standard terms:

The film content produced (or a version of which) should be the equivalent of a 12A rating (Please see BBFC guidance here)
The film should be 45min or less. If the film is going to be slightly over this please contact us.
At least one of the project’s film makers should be based within the Liverpool City Region (that is within the boroughs of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens or Wirral) however the film does not have to be set or filmed in the region.
The film must be able to be screened online (via Social Media) as part of the Film With Pride digital programme as well as shown as part of any physical screenings we may have.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to any type of organisation or individuals, however please note:

If applying as an individual, you will be asked to provide a guarantor organisation/reference (someone who can support your application),
If a group which does not have a legal entity, we’d expect to see a document like a terms of reference, rules or a constitution, and will require a guarantor/reference who would ideally hold the funds; If your group has a bank account we’ll require evidence of this,
As we hope this fund will make a difference to grassroots and community-led initiatives please note the applicant organisation should have an annual turnover less than £200,000pa. If it is over this please get in touch. Please note this threshold does not apply to the guarantor organisation.

Applications MUST:

Applicants under 18 – We are happy to consider applications from those under 18, however the application must be supported by a guarantor organisation that will hold the money on your behalf and support you. If you do not have an organisation to do so, please get in touch to be connected to one of our partners.
Appropriate Policies – We expect all applications to include the appropriate policies and risk assessments (where applicable) that are needed for the safe and compliant delivery of the project – such as your Safeguarding policy. You may be asked to provide or create these before the funding is awarded.
Accounts – If your organisation must legally file annual accounts then you’ll be required to provide a copy of your most recent submission.

What We Can’t Fund:

Unfortunately due to the limited funds available we are unable to fund personal expenses (unless incurred in the delivery of the project) and we are unable to consider hardship applications.
We cannot fund projects that negatively target a specific person, group or organisation.

Reporting & Monitoring

To ensure that funding is used for what it is awarded and to measure the impact of this we require all successful applicants to update us on progress and submit a final report at the end of the project.

Our monitoring has been kept as simple as possible and will consist of quarterly ‘Keeping-in-Touch’ meetings or calls with the project delivery team and an end-of-grant form where you will confirm the measurable project outcomes such as how the delivery of the project has been done in line with the application you submitted.

We also encourage all applicants to share other more detailed evidence where possible such as case studies/stories from the project, testimonials, photos and video evidence and marketing coverage. All successful applicants agree to LCR Pride Foundation naming and promoting their project as part of promoting the work of our charity.

Financial Reporting

All successful applicants are required to keep clear financial records and demonstrate that the funding has been spent in line with the application, including seeking approval and to justify any significant differences from the budget in the application. Unspent funding at the end of the project must be returned to the fund.

Assistance

Whilst we are unable to help with your application, our team, partners and sponsors are available to support the delivery of the projects or the creation of policies or documents that will help make the project possible. There are several points within the application where you can flag you need support to produce documents and we’ll have a jump-start meeting with all successful applicants before you get started.
